PRODUCTION UPDATE: DETAILS
After we recently locked in
the design of the new bands, we are now about to finalize the last small
details. This is the part we love the most, because we think it depends on the
details that determines if something good becomes great. One of the details we
evaluated these last weeks is the buckle of the bands. We could have just
purchased a buckle off the shelf from a factory. The buckle would be reasonably
functional and certainly affordable. However, we wanted something better. We
ended up designing our own buckle to match our design language and to optimize
for ergonomics. We will have to pay a factory to cut separate tooling for this,
but we think it is worth the extra effort.
Check out the design below and judge for yourself.

PLAY ME, I’M YOURS

Me, I’m Yoursdisplay outside our Hong Kong office. Touring
internationally since 2008, Play Me, I’m Yours is an artwork installation by
artist Luke Jerram and has reached over eight million people from New York to
London, bearing the simple instruction, “Play Me, I’m Yours”. The installation
is appearing for the first time in Hong Kong outside the famousPMQcenter,
where Soundbrenner is located.

August 18, 2015 Soundbrenner Update
TOOLING UP FOR MASS PRODUCTION: THE FACTORY
Our vision is becoming a reality! Soundbrenner has partnered with an A-list factory and we are starting the exciting process of mass production.
Our CEO, Florian Simmendinger, took photos and videos of the different machines used in producing the Soundbrenner Pulse. "The factory makes products for some of the largest electronics companies in the world. The working environment is excellent, state-of-the-art, clean and climate controlled."
"First, they put in the raw PCB (printed circuit board) templates and then apply the solder to approximately six to eight circuit boards at once. These machines (photo above) put on the components, and finally the circuit boards are placed in an oven to bake it all in place."
"After soldering the PCB, each unit is inspected, and then placed into assembly. After this step, the product goes into testing. They test 100% of the units."
"They have a room with around fifteen test machines for different quality control checks such as drop tests, heat tests and more. For example, this machine (pictured above) tests the reliability of button presses."
"Finally, the packaged products go into this machine that duplicates the shipping process in a truck to verify that nothing breaks after extensive rattling. (Click the video above.) This way Soundbrenner is assured that the Pulse arrives to you, or your store, in perfect condition."
APP PREVIEW: MUSIC TUTOR "GUESS THE TEMPO"
The Soundbrenner Pulse app includes a Music Tutor with several exercises and games. In this video, we introduce you to "Guess the Tempo". The challenge is to guess the tempo as accurately and quickly as possible.

August 4, 2015 Edition Soundbrenner Update
SOUNDBRENNER RISES TO THE OCCASION
In our previous newsletter, we mentioned that Soundbrenner would be attending the 2015 RISE Conference in Hong Kong. This is where startups and innovators come from across the world to network and pitch their products to the media, investors and to the public. RISE is especially important as it represents the long term potential of Hong Kong has to become an important startup community and hub.
Our CEO, Florian Simmendinger, discussed the development of the Soundbrenner Pulse and our growth as a startup company and our future potential within the startup community and commerce. We are excited that Soundbrenner was chosen as "Pitch Runner Up 2015" from a pool of three hundred other startups. The competition was tough and we are honored to have been chosen from so many amazing innovators.

Since receiving customer feedback on the design and functionality of our bands, we decided to rethink our direction. Based on your suggestions, we have upgraded the bands on the Soundbrenner Pulse wearable to be stronger, more durable, and easier to fasten and unfasten without assistance. Web Summit has become, in four short years, Europe's largest tech conference attracting over 20,000 attendees from around the world. RISE is Web Summit's first event in Asia. RISE will give leaders of enterprise a place to gather and demonstrate how their companies are changing the way we live. Soundbrenner is very excited to be a part of this event. SOUNDBRENNER WOWS AT THE WORLD MOBILE CONFERENCE
We recently exhibited at the Mobile World Conference Shanghai, which focused on how mobile technology - from connected cars and wearable tech to mobile payments and smarter cities - is rapidly changing every aspect of modern life. Soundbrenner's Bas Kakebeeke ran our exhibit at the Start Up Alley, demonstrating the Soundbrenner Pulse in action:
"People were very curious to find out how the product could benefit them. We also had the opportunity to demo the Soundbrenner Pulse on a live stage. Gina, my drummer friend living in Shanghai, showed off her talents with an awesome drum solo while staying perfectly on beat with her Soundbrenner Pulse. The demo was a hit because we got even more visitors coming by our booth."
UPDATE: SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AND HARDWARE MANUFACTURING
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: In addition to our iOS app, we now have a functional Android app prototype. There is user management in the app, including the LED color selector, and editing your own waveforms for Standard & Accents.
HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT: We have ordered a large amount of the most crucial components and have selected a manufacturing partner. The next big step will be tooling which we are working on already.
PROJECTS WE LOVE: SKOOGMUSIC
We are excited to introduce our friends from Skoogmusic, fellow music innovators. They have just launched the latest crowdfunding campaign for the Skoog which is now exclusively available for $329/£199. Skoog is a tactile, multi-touch, multi-dimensional controller. You can use the built in media integration and auto-tune features to jam with your music or you can integrate it into other apps and software.
